the same spam is also happening on my forums

the spam is coming from a program (i do not give the name) which searches for forums, registers, then posts

the solution is an image code for forum registration (i have not yet looked for it, if you find one for smf plz post)

I thought smf will be free of robot spam but as I see it's not true...

I'm using phpbb on another site and there were solutions for protecting from those robots, like creating a box to tick (with a "wild" name for the form name), or hiding some informations on registrations (site, place) that where checked if the informations where given the account wasn't created, because when a robot create an account he fullfill those informations.
Also you can add the validation by mail and if not validated the user can't post.

With those things the 5-10 users created each day for spam are not being created now. I hope my protections would last a lot.
I forst thought that image code at creating would protect but someone show me how a robot can read the code so I saw how it was useless  :'(

You may disable that validate users can't post/reply.. I don't think that programm will valide itself, even more, if it use fake e-mails :>

I had a mod added in my phpbb3 forum besides captcha, it has english text which member needs to read and reply the correct answer. This makes bots fail on the AI scheme. Nowadays, bots are so smart to use anti-captcha to self register. Do we have such thing as hack to install?
